Highlighted text can give you the same effect as if you were using a highlighter pen, right on your page text. This can be a great way of drawing people's attention to specific words, phrases or whole paragraphs, especially when you consider that most visitors to your Web pages will spend a very short period of time reading your content - it is imperative that you get your message across quickly, and that's where this neat feature can help you.

Highlighting shouldn't be overdone, as that would negate any positive effect, but used sparingly it can be very effective indeed.

Creating highlighted text using the Design Wizards is really easy.

1.

Position the cursor where you want the highlighted text to appear.

2.

Right-click with your mouse and select

3.

Design Wizards >> Highlighted Text

4.

The following window will appear.

5.

Within the window, set the following values:

Text Entry - In the text-box provided, type the actual text that you wish to appear, highlighted, in your page.

As you type you will notice a preview at the bottom of the window which will display how your highlighted text will appear in the page.

Text Font - Using the font drop-down selector, choose the preferred font in which your highlighted text should be displayed.

Text Font Size - Using the font drop-down selector, choose your desired text font size (6pt - 72pt).

Font Style - If you want to make your highlighted text bold, italic and/or underlined, click the appropriate button. The below image shows the three text style buttons.

Text Color - This color control sets the color of your text (not the highlight itself). Either type the name of your desired color straight into the color text-box or click the button_application_image_browse button, to the right of the color text-box to launch the color picker tool. For more details on the color picker tool see the Color Picker section in this manual.

Highlight Color - This color control sets the color of the highlight effect that will be applied to your text. Either type the name of your desired color straight into the color text-box or click the button_application_image_browse button, to the right of the color text-box to launch the color picker tool.

Tip: Pick a color that contrasts well with the text color specified above. As a rule, black text with a yellow highlight is one of the most commonly used combinations as it draws the eye well and yet the text remains very readable against the highlight background color.

Align - To align your highlighted text, within your Web page, make a selection from the alignment drop-down list. This drop-down list contains the following options:

Left

Center

Right

Clicking your preferred alignment option within the list will apply that to your text.

6.

Once you are happy with the settings you have made, click button_application_ok button. This will insert your highlighted text at the cursor position. You can edit the highlighted text after it has been inserted, if required.
