I need to create a site like fmylife but that will handle larger stories. It is going to be used by folks who are in recovery for drug and alcohol problems to share their "drunk-a-logues".

We want people to be able to comment on the stories or rate them.

It will need to be self supporting so it will have to allow advertisements.

Finding volunteers to moderate will be easy, so that isn't a problem.

It will need to be able to display seven or eight stories on each page.
Drunks can get pretty long winded so it will need a way to limit how much space they can take up and maybe have a link to click so if the reader wants to read the whole thing he can. We don't want visitors who go there to find one long page of nothing but writing.

Of course we will allow fictitious names and throw away email addresses for registering. But would like to start out with no registration to get things going. Whatever it takes to make this easy for people to participate.

What software can we use to accomplish this. I've seen fmylife clones and something called StatusNet. Neither seemed quite right. What do you think I should use.

You may be able to do something SIMILAR to this with WordPress. But You should be able to get it done with Joomla.

I'm no WordPress or Joomla expert... but those would be the 2 places I would start.
