Hello,

I'm not sure why I have such an urge to ask this question, but I've been wondering about it for some time now.

Where do you type the content for your website into? Do you type it straight into XSitePro? Or do you first create it in something like Notepad, Microsoft Word, Wordpad, etc.?

Thanks

Either type into XSitePro or into NotePad or WordPad (I actually use TextPad) and then copy it into XSitePro. Don't use MS Word or it will add formatting behind the scenes that will drive you crazy.

Hi Ablewebs,

Sorry for my lack of properly communicating my question. What I meant to ask was what YOU personally do. I know the different ways to do it, but I was interested to learn other peoples preferred method of doing it.

Thank you.

XSite Pro's WYSIWYG editor (Pinedit) is the only one I use for WYSIWYG work (in XSite Pro). Once I get the look I want, I go back into source and clean up the code.

If I'm working with HTML or CSS source code I use either Notepad++ or the CoffeeCup HTML editor the most. Both editors provide an easy preview in multiple browsers to see how the source code is working. If I'm working with PHP or JavaScript, I use Notepad++.

For the client supplied content that seems to largely come in Word .doc files, I copy and paste it into Notepad++ to scrub all the Microsoft junk, then copy and paste into XSite Pro.

That is how I do it... and how I recommend others do it, too!

Lately, I have also been using the Bluefish Editor.

Bluefish is especially good for PHP but it works well for HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

This editor is good enough to have its own thread...

A while back I tried treepad, but then decided it's best for me to just write in XSP.

I wish I could just type straight into Xsitepro and do all my work there, but I feel XSP adds all the unnecessary code when I backspace and try to edit my article as I go. This is why I find it easier to type and edit my content elsewhere and then paste it into XSP.
