I see and hear that Wordpress is flavour of the month by Google standards and you get up the organic listings faster than with a normal site.

Why can you not have a blog page in XsitePro without converting to Wordpress - i.e. Have a page that looks like a Blog.

What are the Pros and Cons of having a website in XsitePro as against a Wordpress Site.

Yes - I am a little bemused and confounded by all of this - any straight forward answers would be appreciated.

It's easy to have a WordPress blog coexist with XSite Pro.
Install WordPress in a folder in public_html (for most hosts) where your XSite Pro website resides.
Create a menu item for your blog in XSite Pro and then create a menu item in WordPress for your main website.
There are hundreds of free WordPress themes and hundreds more premium themes to chose from. It's quite easy to modify
the included WordPress TwentyTen and TwentyEleven themes if you're handy with CSS. Knowing how to tweak PHP helps, too.

Wordpress is handy when you want to use certain plugins.

However, there is a lot of updating going on with wordpress,
and not all plugins are updated at the same time.

I have sites that I did not look at for two years, done with XSitePro,
and they are still fine.

Wordpress wants your attention more often.

XSitepro goes a bit slower in the searchengines, but with the right keywords
and strategic backlinking you surely can climb your way up.

Once it's there it can stay there completely handsfree.

All in all I like the simplicity of XSitePro. :P

Integration of wordpress and XSitePro is not difficult, but it is timeconsuming
and extra work.

Why would you want to do that?

There is a slight advantage using wordpress when you launch a new blog,
but easy does it in my opinion.

You have to make a choice, because there are sooo many options.
You don't need 100 ways to get traffic to your site, but 1 or 2 and then stick to that.
That's how you get to the top in the searchengines.

All the best!

I agree with Hortensia
I have about 50 wordpress sites which I am moving back to Xsite
The reason is the updating of these sites is a nightmare and more work than its worth
I know many people state the advantage of wordpress is being able to log on to a wordpress site
without having your computer and being able to update from anywhere.
My counter to that is I can work on any site in Xsite without being connected to the internet
and then just fire my updates to a site at my leisure.
Plus I don’t spend my life buying the latest plug-in and trying to work out which is best
I’m sure others will have words to support wordpress, but that’s my experience

You make a good point there Brian.

There is an awful lot of hoopla going on for example on the Warrior Forum, just to create buzz and drama to sell you the latest super duper plugin or theme or templates.

Quite a few plugins don't work as advertised from the start, or will stop working with the next big update.

Many stories you hear are marketing stories and not based on facts at all.

I remember somebody saying some time that wordpress was better than XSitePro, even after admitting that he had never used anything but wordpress.

Well, I can't take that serious, but he was very 'authoritive' about his opinion anyway. Just goes to show.

All the best!

I have gotten to the point that I rarely visit the Warrior Forum. At one time it was a great resource. Of late, it seems to be
mainly a place where the web sharks ply their wares to web marketing newbies looking for that "magic" pathway to internet riches.

As to as WordPress vs. XSite Pro: use the tool/platform that will work best for the goal of your website. If your goal is to
have a blog and make money with ad revenue based on blog traffic, then WordPress is the easiest and best way to do it.
If your goal is to set up a static website to advertise and sell products and services, XSite Pro may be a better option.
If you are building websites for clients that want CMS capability, you need a platform that provides CMS. I have done this
with addons to XSP but now prefer to use WordPress for CMS websites.

I have WordPress websites that rank very well for my clients and myself.
I also have XSite Pro websites that rank very for my clients and myself.

None of these websites, WordPress or XSite Pro, have any WSO "magic cr@p" in them.

When a client comes to me and wants a WordPress website, I build them a WordPress website. If they just want
a static website, I'll likely build them an XSite Pro website because it's quick, and it's (usually) easier.

There are more than 71,000,000 WordPress websites, worldwide. I would guess that XSite Pro websites number in the
1,000s or tens of 1,000s. If you build websites for a living and ignore WordPress, you do so at your own risk.

Yeah ...

Not all wso's are bad, of course.
But that's the whole point I am trying to make.

In this internet world of information overload, you have to make choices that suits you best.

The original question was, do I need a blog for search engine love. The answer is not really.

Keeping things as simple as possible is very important to be succesful online, or you get lost in technicalities. Before you know it you are in the hands of 'sharks' disturbing your peace of mind with silly bills.

All the best!
